It looks like this it the plan for the beach party: (modified based on responses below)

ASL 74 Bloody Red Beach:(This scenario will accommodate 3-5 players)
Pre set up boards/overlays provided by Keith & Denis, and pre pulled counters provided by Keith.

Keith: IJA has 2 alternate Japanese defensive setups ready. I've set them up so they are appropriate to having 2 Japanese commanders. I'm also happy to play USMC if someone else wants to take the defense.
Randy: IJA

CH38 Orange beach 3:
(This scenario will be played if we have 5+ folks that actually show up for the "beach party"
Pre set up boards/overlays and pre pulled counters provided by DR.

DR: IJA has a Japanese defense set up ready

Koz: USMC, scenario?
Denis: USMC, scenario?
Devon: ? (pick either Keith will switch to match your preferance)
Anyone else want in?
Comfortable with Chapters: A-G, J, O, P, & V
Will play ASLSK to teach new players
Will happily play anything ASL (IIFT preferred)
sig erratta (replace Chapt P above with Q)

Finally got a chance to look over the scenarios. I would play either side; would prefer ASL 74 Blood Red Beach since it doesn't have my SSR dislikes.

Begin rant / To elaborate, one of my pet peeves/really grinds my gears is an SSR that use the "all Bamboo is Crag" sort of stuff, without use of overlays. Although I am not fond of overlays, I have a hard time visualizing changed terrain that isn't actually changed, and will undoubtably forget several times during a game. /end rant mode.

So, will play Japanese if others have a hankerin' for USMC.

Finished off my certificate tests. Aced the thing. Going to read the Beach assault rules tonight.

I do not have the Ch 38 card. WHich maps. I could possible throw together some crag overlays to stick on the map as a reminder if folks want that, to make remembering a little easier.

The Critical Hit scenario uses map 37. I think there were 7 bamboo=crag hexes not covered by overlays.
There is also one pond=shellhole hex, but that can be a 5/8 counter.

I'm a little zoided out ATM but I will make some overlays tomorrow or tonight if my brain returns.

They wont be anything fancy. Just something we can place on the map under the plexiglass to remember the changes.

errr, ummm, not sure how to tell you this bad news Randy but ASL 74 Bloody Red Beach is more of an offender than the CH scenario. Look closely at SSR 1 ...."all woods hexes on overlay 2 are considered Kunai..." :x

The good news is, we can assign you to defend the other hill on Board 2 that doesn't involve the SSR.

Cool,

Unless Devon wants to play USMC, it looks like we'll be teaming up to defend in ASL 74. If you have the time, look at the map and devise a defense for the hill 2 board using roughly half the IJA forces.

I'm really looking forward to this meet.

If Devon gets knocked out by weather (snow Saturday?) I can fill in if I'm not tied up with another game.
