A Bridge Too Far

Postby grognard69 » Fri Feb 03, 2012 9:44 am

Gents,

Finally got this module. I do not subscribe to the drama around the black SS counters and have no opinion either way. If I did, then I would most likely have to boycott several of my favorite games and favorite movies, like Star Wars, etc. Anyway, my intent is to play this module someday and use the counters there in. With that being said, I purchased an unpunched and complete module. It kinda breaks my heart to punch the counters, especially for any collectors in the house, etc. So if anyone has this module complete and punched and would be interested in an even swap of counters then please let me know. Just thought I would check here first. :ugeek:

I'd recommend you not punch them, unless you REALLY want to play with them. If you have the Peiper HASLs, ABTF, and/or FB then you have a complete blue set of SS anyway. Let that be your "player's" set. :)

Funny thing about the black counters - I find them difficult to read. I have ABTF but have not punched the black counters. Jeff and I are currently playing one of the CoS Kursk scenarios that uses the SS, and I am really having a hard time without a magnifying glass.

If you plan on getting older - might want to keep using the blue counters!

They were replaced in DB (1st and 2nd, but not 3rd), and FB.

I wish I had known how much the unpunched sets were going for before I punched mine.

Fellow Squad Leaders,

I was wondering if you could provide opinions on the Critical Hit effort on Oosterbeek. The Witches Caulron. Some other CH products tend to be weakly researched/play tested. Thinking of adding this one to my collection.

Brian,

I have the CH Third Bridge, and it is pretty cool. I have played about half of the scenarios and enjoyed them. The map is a real work of art. That is also the problem. Many buildings do not align to hexes, and so you may have some "discussions" on building locations during a game. Accurate? Yes, to a fault.

Have not played the Oosterbeek stuff, but I anticipate a similar problem. There is no campaign game, either, only scenarios, and I do not think that any use the entire map. Bummer.
