Opinions on ASL Modules/Historical Periodicals

Postby grognard69 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 10:21 am

Gents,

Was wondering if I could get an opinion on the following things I have been watching, mostly 3rd party stuff.

1. LFT Azul Division - I just got this one today, $50 on Ebay
2. HoB Onslaught to Orsha - Watching this one on Ebay
3. MMP Armies of Oblivion - Watching this one on Ebay
4. Hob Operation Merkur - Interested in this one
5. BfP Crucible of Steel - Interested in this one
6. BfP Blood and Jungle - Interested in this one
7. BfP Operation Cobra - Interested in this one

Recent additions:
Valor of the Guards (MMP), Monte Cassino (HoB), Doomed Battalions (MMP)

I accidentally purchased 2 copies of Doomed Battalions, I guess I shouldn't order stuff online while I am having a beer, but for $55, I thought it was a steal. So if anyone is looking for a copy and doesn't already have it, let me know. Otherwise I think I will just keep it in shrink wrap and wait and see what happens.

Opinions on Armies of Oblivion would be helpful, do I really need it? Will it ever re-print, what exactly am I missing if I have everything else, maps, Axis Minors and FB?

Thanks Guys!

My humble opinion:

1. LFT Azul Division - I just got this one today, $50 on Ebay

Nice module - will get more play than the CH module, since it appears the scenarios have been playtested.
It does come with counters.

2. HoB Onslaught to Orsha - Watching this one on Ebay

BFP has talked about reprinting this, perhaps as part of an East front pack.
It usually goes for a lot of $$.

3. MMP Armies of Oblivion - Watching this one on Ebay

You will want. Will eventually get reprinted, but when ...

4. Hob Operation Merkur - Interested in this one

Make sure you get the map update- the non-glossy one. Really reduces eye strain! No campaign game, but some very good scenarios.
If you like the subject I would grab it.

5. BfP Crucible of Steel - Interested in this one

Jeff and I have played several of the scenarios. They are terrific - we had a blast each time. Most came down to the wire and we both had a huge dead pile.

6. BfP Blood and Jungle - Interested in this one

Jeff and I are starting one of these. A very immense pack with really good looking scenarios and nice counters. I would say it is a must buy.

7. BfP Operation Cobra - Interested in this one

Have it, but have not played it. SInce Koz keeps coming up with bocage stuff, just haven't gotten around to it.

Mind dragging the Cobra one along to a meet so I can take a look at it?

(I must be nuts...)
