Location Santa Fe Sept 7th & 8th Multi Day meet

Postby Keith Collins » Sat Aug 10, 2013 6:50 am

Hello DWAC crew,

Here is what is confirmed for the September 2013 Meet:

Location: Santa Fe
Date: September 7th start 10:00 am
September 8th end 5:00

The venue will be open for the times above.

If there are die hards that want to start Friday night it can be arranged, just let me know. I'll be available to play starting Saturday.

The location and date above are keeping with our tradition of having the DWAC meets on "holiday months" (January, July, Sept) on the 2nd Saturday and in Santa Fe

If any of you need directions to the Santa Fe location contact Keith by e-mail: sampo30 (at) Hotmail (dot) com

PLEASE READ BELOW

For a few years now we've discussed the possibility of having a multi day meet. I think we should give it a try for the 2013 September meet. I would like to encourage everyone to express their opinions on this below.

My only caveat is that a multi day meet should include the normal meet Saturday time frame (11-5).

For those of you not aware the Santa Fe location has plenty of space for multiple games and include 2 single beds, 2 queen beds, 2 couches, for those that would like to sleep over. There is a good selection of restraunts within 3 miles of the gaming site. We have no time constraints on the location. It's a house with full kitchen so we can cook if we need to.

So if folks would like to chime in on the thread things such as:
Are you interested, what time frame? (Fri-Sat or Sat-Sun), can you attend? Opinions of food? should I stock the place or does everyone just want to bring something? etc.

I hope the timing on this is good and we can make this work. I would be a fantastic opportunity to perhaps play some larger scenarios or do some playtesting. What ever works for the DWAC crew.

I think Sat-Sun would be best. It'd be even cooler to run Friday evening - Sunday. :)

I'm happy to cook during a break if we all want to chip in for burgers/brats etc. if there's a grill available. I can also arrange for a small 3 or 5 gallon keg from 2nd Street if there's interest.

I'm sure Randy and I can bring some euros and lighter fare for late night cerebral recovery and fun.

Very much looking forward to this. Once we nail down the details, I'll post on CSW and hopefully inform the few guys who lurk there, but don't tend to visit here.
I'll also let Peter and Cullen know (the SK guys who came with us a few times to Ares).

So looking over posts in the various threads it looks like Sat to Sun is the most popular option, so we'll go with that.

I'll modify the main post in this thread .

I like the idea of grilling but I have no grill. I'll see if I can find one. Logistics may defeat this great idea.

I'm neutral on the keg, I'm fine without one, I'll partake and contribute if there is one. Perhaps others can chime in.

As loathe as I am to give up ASL playing time, lighter games sound like a good idea.

FYI,

I've got air mattresses and cots to round out sleeping arrangements of we get the full 8+ of folks saying they are coming actually showing up. I can take an air mattress no problem.

I've had no luck on a grill, my neighbors that have them have the very large ones that would be tough to move.

I'll stock the place with salty snack treats, pop, veggie tray, cookies, and sandwich stuff.

Chime in if you have favorite drinks/snacks.

We can figure out dinner/breakfast (grill, cook in, eat out, whatever here on the forums or at the meet if needed, I'd still like to BBQ if we can figure it out).

Some thoughts for those of us who are going to go hardcore:

1) Think about bringing a desk lamp and extension cord. Some of the corners at Keith's folks' place get dark at 2AM. :)

2) We're all thinking about playing HASL monsters at this point. What if your scenario goes pear-shaped quickly? Think about plan B. Please don't go home... that would suck. :)

3) There's gotta be a small gas grill somewhere. Anyone got a pickup?

Brian,

Bring the grill, desk lamp, and a couple chairs.

I've got the other stuff covered.

The chairs and lamp are just in case, strategic reserve if you will.
